FAQs

Answers to Your Questions

Q: Will our wedding be “legal”?

A: Absolutely. As ordained ministers, we are legally recognized wedding officiants in Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and North Carolina. We will provide all the guidance you need to apply for and officially register your wedding license.

Q: Can you help us write our vows?

A: Steffen has worked professionally as a writer for more than 30 years. One of his great joys is helping couples express their love and commitment to each other. We are happy to work with you to write vows that uniquely reflect your love story and beliefs.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: The fee for a traditional wedding performed in North Georgia (e.g., Blue Ridge, Ellijay, Blairsville, Hiawassee, Jasper) is $350, which includes creating a custom wedding ceremony and officiating your wedding. Additional fees may apply for weddings outside the immediate area (e.g., Atlanta, Dahlonega, Tennessee). See the Options page for more details.

Q: Does our wedding have to be “religious”?

A: Ceremonies can range from sacred to secular — including civil and simple “I-do” ceremonies, as well as traditional ceremonies complete with times of prayer and Scripture readings. It’s completely up to you.

Q: How long will our ceremony last?

A: Ceremonies can be as short or as long as you wish. But in general, simple ceremonies can range from 5-10 minutes, while more traditional weddings can last 20-30 minutes.

Q: How is a traditional ceremony structured?

A: The time-honored structure of a traditional wedding ceremony includes:

  • Welcome and Opening Remarks or Prayer
  • Presentation of the Bride (typically by a parent, child or other loved one)
  • Reading (any poem, phrase or Scripture that you would like in your ceremony)
  • Vows (your vows of love to each other)
  • “I-do”s (your promise to love, honor and cherish)
  • Exchange of Rings
  • Pronouncement
  • Introduction of the Couple
  • Closing Remarks (best wishes, blessing, benediction)

Q: Do you officiate same-sex weddings?

A: We are honored to officiate any wedding that is entered into with love.
